What we think ....
Technology:
-
Laptops need to be wireless if possible - cords tie people to one place
-
Turn off the monitor to turn on attention
-
Participants don't consider computer time as "hands-on"
-
Technology must be introduced (like delicious, blog site, audacity, and wiki site)
-
Technology must be imbedded into the training (like flip cameras/Movie Maker, podcasting, etc)
-
Teachers need to have hard "how-to" copies of the technology used
-
Can technology be differentiated? (newer teachers?)
Instruction:
-
Room needs to be available for participants to be able to work on hands-on activities
-
TIME needs to be given for teachers to process the information and work with the pieces (build something new?)
-
Time in between the session in order to process/utilize the strategies
-
Teachers need to be trained in order to experience the strategies
-
Hard copies of some of the information for participants
-
Hard copies for instructors – just in case the internet crashes
Other Notes:
-
Effective for upper elementary (4-5) and up
-
Worthwhile for teachers who had already taken MiClass
-
We need to establish a user-group – training/support (for trainers)
-
Where will different groups "house" their information? -- new links vs. new site?
-
Creation of a site-directory (list of all pages available to teachers w/synopsis of content)
