Afterthoughts

What we think ....

Technology:
  • Laptops need to be wireless if possible - cords tie people to one place
  • Turn off the monitor to turn on attention
  • Participants don't consider computer time as "hands-on"
  • Technology must be introduced (like delicious, blog site, audacity, and wiki site)
  • Technology must be imbedded into the training (like flip cameras/Movie Maker, podcasting, etc)
  • Teachers need to have hard "how-to" copies of the technology used
  • Can technology be differentiated? (newer teachers?)

Instruction:
  • Room needs to be available for participants to be able to work on hands-on activities
  • TIME needs to be given for teachers to process the information and work with the pieces (build something new?)
  • Time in between the session in order to process/utilize the strategies
  • Teachers need to be trained in order to experience the strategies
  • Hard copies of some of the information for participants
  • Hard copies for instructors – just in case the internet crashes

Other Notes:
  • Effective for upper elementary (4-5) and up
  • Worthwhile for teachers who had already taken MiClass
  • We need to establish a user-group – training/support (for trainers)
  • Where will different groups "house" their information? -- new links vs. new site?
  • Creation of a site-directory (list of all pages available to teachers w/synopsis of content)
