Model usage of the 7 Comprehension Strategies with the the Think-aloud strategy and a piece of content-area text

Marginalia:  Using pieces of text related to your content area, have students work independently and collaboratively on annotating the text

Text in the Middle:  Using either the sample-text provided or a text of your own, have students complete a text-in-the-middle activity

Text Mapping and Scrolling:  Create a text-map utilizing your content area text book or "current-events-type" magazine (ex:  Junior Scholastic)
